Bhangarh Fort – A Mesmerizing Fort with a Haunted Blanket

Well, we all love spooky or eerie movies right? Or stories that were told to us by our grandparents & some latched to us since our time of our ancestors which makes us irrevocably believe in it. There are tales of stories about few forts & places that keeps us on the edge every time we hear about it. India, a country with an amalgamation of facts & mysteries has a story behind everything and one such story that is sure to give you goose bumps is that of Bhangarh Fort.

Located between the wrecks of Jaipur & Alwar is an abandoned town built in the 17th century & is attached to the Tiger Reserve of Sariska. Considered to be one of the most haunted places in the world, this Fort is one of the popular destinations & attracts tourist from around the globe due to its breathtaking beauty & legendry stories latched to it. With a plethora of folklore from black magic, voodoo, spirits this fort has the chills to go down in your spine indefinitely.

With many stories attached to it one story that is unraveled is that it was established by Madho Singh who was granted permission to build it by his severe Guru Balanath. The Guru warned him about the repercussions of the palace overshadowing him in case it does the fort will be banished & ruined. After repeated forewarning the palace overshadowed him and the fort was damaged instantly. It is said that the Samadhi of the Baba still lies there & no one is said to return back ever once venturing into this deserted fort as his spirit is said to be still present there.

Another story that is attached to it that an adept wizard in balck magic fell in love with Ratnavati, the princess of Bhangarh. In order to make her fall in love with him he offered the princess with a potion that would help her reciprocate his feeling in the same way. However Ratnavati got to know about his evil plan and decided to teach him a lesson eventually leading to the wizard’s death. Before dying the wizard cursed the fort & princess leading to many deaths in and around the vicinity of the Fort. It is said that the spirits of the people who died there and the spirits of the Wizard and Ratnavati haunts the area thus leading to paranormal activities after dark.

The Archaeological Survey of India has put up a sign board that entering the premises of the fort after sunset is strictly prohibited as number of people have complained  about a feeling of uneasiness and anxiety whilst their visit after dark.

The Bhangarh Fort is located 235kms away from Delhi and besides being one of the most haunted places in the world it offers a serene environment & picturesque vicinity that can be visited before sunset. People with weak heart should avoid going there and the rest can witness the majestic remains of the Fort under the eerie coverlet and should add it to their wish list of places to visit once in their lifetime.
